Olivia's Teaching Journey
The task of the modern educator is not to cut down jungles, but to irrigate deserts.

About Olivia
Hello! I hope you and yours are well. My name is Olivia Walt (she/her/hers), and I am a developing TESOL practioner. As of May 2023, I am a graduate of the University of Colorado at Boulder, having received a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics (TESOL Emphasis), a Bachelor of Music in French Horn Performance, and a minor in Spanish Language. As my academic studies probably indicate, I have a fair amount of interdisciplinary interests; however, as I progressed through my undergraduate career, I came to realize that practically every one of my interests points in one direction - that is, toward language. Whatever the context may be, I can always find pleasure in observing the style and execution of language as it is used to conduct self-expression - particularly in English Language Learners. Ultimately, I strive to use my skills in English Language Teaching to both satisfy my fascination of how English is used cross-culturally as well as help learners of English increase their expressive abilities.
While born in Chicago, IL, I have spent most of my life in Arvada, CO, which is about 30 minutes away from Denver. Besides having a passion for language, I have always loved music (hence my study of music performance) as well as running/hiking, reading, and spending time with family/friends. I also love traveling and hearing about other people's travels!
